There are literally thousands of file formats in use all over the world - from PDF and TXT for documents to MP3 and AAC for audio files. But this website tries to make things a bit easier for users.
Zamzar.com allows users to convert their own files. Whether it be from MS Word's DOCX format to a simple JPEG, or from WMA to Ogg; Zamzar is capable of doing it.
All in all, it's a relatively simple process. You choose a file, selecting an output format, enter an email address and click the 'convert' button.
Your file then gets uploaded to the Zamzar servers and converted. Once it's done, you're sent an email link to retrieve your file. It's a painless process, with the only major issue being the length of time it takes to convert large files (which is an issue out of the site's hands).
For instance, a YouTube video weighing in at 7mbs froze at 17 percent for 15 minutes while uploading, but at the same time I received an email telling me that my file was ready to download ? and it was. A weird moment no doubt, but hey, it worked.
For those with the money to spare, you can also go with a premium option from $7 a month, to $49 for a business account, paying via credit card. These options allow you to do several conversions at once, gives you greater storage space (up to 100 GB) and removes advertisements.
Zamzar is a great alternative to using dozens of conversion tools, and I'd recommend adding it to your list of 'favourites' or bookmarking it.
