Benchmarking site Antutu has released a list of the top 10 performance smartphones of 2016.
While a multitude of factors are important in choosing a phone, such as camera quality or battery life, performance is also a major aspect when it comes to smartphones.
Performance is primarily driven by the phone's CPU - with Apple's A10 processor seeming to perform the best. Of course, their chip is specifically designed for their phones, meaning they can optimise the processor to specific specifications.
The iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone took first and second place respectively on the top 10 list thanks to this.
They were followed in third place by OnePlus 3T. In fact, most of the other top ten positions were held by Chinese-made phones.
This includes the likes of the Moto Z, the LeEco Le Pro3, two Xiaomi phones and the ZTE Axon 7.
Most of these phones feature a Snapdragon 820 or 821 processor, known heavyweights in the chipset industry and manufactured by Qualcomm.
Antutu's rankings took into account the average performance of smartphones, using 2000 samples for each handset.
