WhatsApp has just added a new security feature that could save you a lot of trouble if you ever lose your device.
Two-step verification means that verifying your phone number on the instant messaging app will require a bit more than just receiving a confirmation SMS.
You’ll need to create a six-digit passcode that you’ll be asked to enter when installing and verifying WhatsApp on a new device.
Furthermore, the added security layer means that it’s going to be way tougher for someone else to access your account.
Upon activating the feature, you’ll have the option to provide an accurate email address that can be used in case you ever forget your passcode. Pro tip: USE THIS SAFETY NET!
Furthermore, WhatsApp will periodically ask you to enter the code, “to help you remember”. Don’t forget it. Don’t!
To activate the feature, go to Settings > Account > Two-step verification > Enable.
