One of the first things you notice about this product is that the instruction manual has very little to say. However, in bold text it tells you to go to the website for the full manual — which I did — but for a product which should convenience you, it's quite an inconvenience to figure out how to use it.
Fortunately, the product itself hasn't got too many drawbacks.
Its hands-free Bluetooth capability allows you to throw away those stock cell phone ear pieces and feel free with full manoeuvrability and, unless you plan on banging your head against a wall, the ear piece shouldn't fall out.
The comfort of their "Ultimate Comfort Eargel" is at first not as comfortable as they would like you to think, but I suppose putting something in your ear for the first time will be uncomfortable no matter what it is.
And it did grow on me, actually becoming very comfortable. As it only weighs 10g, I can understand why. The Ear Hook, however, never did and I could never get it to quite fit or feel comfortable.
The quality of audio was quite surprising as it improved the sound and cut out quite a bit of noise. Your call options are also really nifty and you're able to mute a call, put a person on hold, and redial the last number called. Another nice part is being able to listen to music through the headset.
The battery can run for 250 hours on standby and for five and a half hours when making calls. You can monitor the battery's charge level through a flashing light.
Added bonuses include extra gel pieces which came in different sizes and the option to charge through your computer or from an AC adapter.
All in all the Jabra BT530 Bluetooth headset is an interesting device and surely lived up to expectations. If you have R800 to spare and need a good Bluetooth headset, this is well worth investigating.
