It's time for our weekly look at the world of mobile applications once again, with loads of good stuff in this edition.

This time, we have Borderlands Legends, a peek into your social network past, a Super Nintendo classic and much more.

Air Patriots

A rather unique blend of tower defence and air-traffic control, Air Patriots has you routing warplanes over a battlefield, taking out enemies on the ground.

The game features cartoony visuals and 12 levels, but players can get all future levels for $1.99, making for a great deal.

Air Patriots is available on iOS and Android, being a free-to-play title.

Borderlands Legends

There's never been a better time to hop on the Borderlands bandwagon, with a sequel to the cartoony shooter being released on consoles.

Now, Borderlands Legends comes to iOS, with you playing as the four characters in the original game, complete with unlimited levelling and an X-COM style cover system.

The game is available for $4.99, while an HD version will cost $6.99. However, mixed reviews mean you pretty much have to be a hardcore fan to appreciate the title.

Knights of Pen and Paper

One for the old school role-playing game fans, Knights of Pen and Paper features a charming 16-bit visual style to begin with.

There's more to the game than that though, with loads of statistics to take into account, as well as over 100 quests to contend with.

Knights of Pen and Paper is available for $1.99 from the Google Play Store and Apple's App Store.

Dolphin Jetpack

One of the most popular web browsers on the Android platform, the team behind Dolphin have released Dolphin Jetpack.

The "Jetpack" name refers to its new-found fast browsing speeds, a huge increase over the default browser and Chrome, the company claims. Additionally, it boasts improved HTML5 compatibility too.

Dolphin Jetpack is available on the Google Play Store, so check it out.

TimeHop

Ever wanted to know what you posted a year ago on Twitter or Facebook? No? Well, this app delivers the goods anyway.

Once you've installed the app, it syncs with your social networks, then pushes your updates from years gone by. It might not be the most useful app in the world, but serves as a great reminder anyway.

TimeHop is available on iOS free of charge, so you've got nothing to lose if you'd like to download it.

Chrono Trigger

One of gaming's most celebrated titles, role-playing classic Chrono Trigger has been ported to many devices since its Super Nintendo launch.

The game is already available on iOS but now, it's available on the army of Android devices too.

Chrono Trigger will set you back $10 from the Google Play Store, which isn't too bad when you consider the length of the title.

Space Agency

I've been spending loads of time with indie game Kerbal Space Program, which tasks you with building rockets and exploring space. So when I happened upon Space Agency, I knew I had to check it out.

Available on iOS only, Space Agency has you building your very own rocket-powered creations and exploring the solar system.

Space Agency is available for $1.99 on the Apple App Store.

Auto Speaker

One of the more practical applications we've seen, Auto Speaker pretty much does what its name implies.

The application automatically turns on your speaker-phone, using your handset's proximity sensor to detect whether it's against your ear or not.

Auto Speaker is available free of charge from the Google Play Store.
