Apple’s latest advert is a departure from its usual apolitical marketing stance, taking a stand against climate change in a bid to save Planet Earth.
Continuing its “Shot on iPhone” series that promotes the device’s photographic abilities, the ad – simply labelled “Earth” – highlights that sanctity of life on Earth.
“The Earth is the only world know so far to harbour life”, says the late Carl Sagan in a voiceover. “There is nowhere else – at least in the near future – to which our species could migrate.”
It’s definitely an ad that’ll make you think deeply about the vulnerability of the world around us, especially at a time in human history when we are actively and severely damaging it.
It’s also a swipe at US President Donald Trump, who recently withdrew the USA from the ever-so-important Paris Agreement.
Apple has clearly taken offence to this decision, along with several cities and states across the country.
Decision to withdraw from the #ParisAgreeement was wrong for our planet. Apple is committed to fight climate change and we will never waver.— Tim Cook (@tim_cook) June 2, 2017
