Reports suggest that Multichoice plans to extend the DStv Now service to all subscribers by the end of the year.
According to MyBroadband, the broadcaster will make the on-demand streaming service available to all six of its packages.
DStv Digital Media head Graeme Cumming says subscribers of DStv Family, EasyView and Access will join those of Compact, Compact Plus and Premium by Christmas.
The service makes watching DStv on the go incredibly easy, with Android and iOS apps as well as web browser support. Users can watch content from the channels they have access to via their current package.
While DStv now has been relatively successful, consumers continue to bay for a stand-alone sports streaming service that can be purchased separately from DStv packages.
Currently, only DStv Premium subscribers have access to all of SuperSport’s channels, with cheaper packages having highly limited selections.
In the meantime, there is a dedicated SuperSport app that allows subscribers to watch sports on the go.
