Following a period of exclusivity with Cell C, Huawei has announced that the Ascend Mate 7 phablet will be coming to Vodacom next month.
The Ascend Mate 7 features a 6-inch full HD display, a HiSilicon octacore processor, 2GBs of RAM and Android 4.4. On the camera side of things, the device has a 13MP main camera and a 5MP selfie shooter.
However, the Mate 7 stands out thanks to its hybrid dual-SIM design (the second slot can be used for a microSD card or for a second SIM) as well as a fingerprint scanner on the back.
The fingerprint scanner is touch-based, as opposed to Samsung's earlier swipe-based efforts.
"Starting from the 1st April, all Vodacom customers will have the option of purchasing the Mate7 on either a Smart S contract for R489 or cash prize of R 9299," Huawei said.
The price is a tad steep compared to Cell C's initial R389 a month tariff (with 1GB of data), while the Orange Store also stocks the device for under R6000.
