Upcoming videogame Star Citizen has broken the previous crowd-funding record for games.
The title raked in $6.3-million via crowd-funding website Kickstarter and the official website, ArsTechnica reported, with 90 000 fans backing the project.
The campaign has broken the previous crowd-funding record set by role-playing title Project Eternity, which made roughly $4.1-million
Star Citizen is a PC game by Chris Roberts, creator of the Wing Commander franchise, and promises to be a graphical showcase, using the critically acclaimed CryEngine 3 engine.
The game is a space simulation and is set for a 2014 to 2015 release.
