A rogue Facebook application has spread rapidly around the social network, urging users to view a video of the "world's worst McDonald's customer".
According to a blog post by web security firm Sophos, clicking on a bit.ly link takes users to a rogue application called "Worst McD's Customer".
The application then asks for permission to access users' walls, status updates, friends list, data and contact information.
Despite the dubious nature, many people are keen on seeing the "video", and grant the application access, with the program posting a status update.
Sophos recommends that users who fell for the trick should remove all references to it from their news feed, clear the status message and revoke the app's rights to your account.
According to allfacebook.com, URL-shortening service bit.ly is alerting users when they encounter the link.
