A new touchscreen technology aims to create physical buttons that appear and disappear.
At SID Display Week in Boston, Tactus Technology showed off its new innovation, which sees a Tactile Layer component generating buttons, guidelines and shapes, TG Daily reported.
The panel uses "microfluidic" technology to give users a physical keyboard of sorts, with buttons receding when they're no longer needed.
The Tactile Layer panel adds no extra thickness to the touchscreen, simply replacing an existing display component in the process.
The company plans to implement the technology on smartphones, tablets, e-readers, GPS devices and more.
