Nokia's new Pureview 808 handset is now available in South Africa, the company has announced.

First announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the Pureview 808 is powered by Nokia's Symbian operating system and features a 640x360 screen.

However, it's the gigantic 41-megapixel camera that makes the device stand out. The phone also possesses Nokia's new "oversampling" technology to create detailed 5 and 8 megapixel photos.

Nokia has confirmed that the PureView technology would make its way to the Lumia Windows Phones as well.

The Pureview 808 is available on a Vodacom Business Call contract for R399 per month, along with 250MBs of data each month.
