Some of the world's largest websites have joined forces to create a group dedicated to protecting the internet.
The Internet Defense League was founded to fight against "entrenched institutions and monopolies" presenting a threat against web freedom.
"The Internet Blackout [against the SOPA bill – ed] was just the beginning," read a statement on the group's website.
"Together, our websites and personal networks can mobilise the planet to defend the internet from bad laws & monopolies."
Members of the group include Mozilla, Reddit, Wordpress, Fark, Cheezburger and the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
The group kicked things off with "cat-signals" being blasted into the sky at various locations around the world, coinciding with the launch of The Dark Knight Rises.
