More and more people have had enough of Facebook but feel stuck with it, a new survey found.

The poll, by the University of Sydney, found that 31 percent of users felt that they spent too much time on the social network.

This figure ballooned to 61 percent among those between the ages of 18 and 29.

The survey also found that 43 percent of users considered closing their Facebook accounts, with the number rising to 47 percent in the 18 to 29 demographic.

Just over 750 people participated in the poll, being selected to represent the general Australian population.

Despite the survey, Nielsen statistics show that time spent on the website has been holding steady in the region.
