Telkom will lower the prices on its uncapped offerings as of 1 February 2013.

Customers can look forward to price reductions of up to 40 percent for consumer uncapped products and up to 35 percent for business uncapped products depending on the relevant package, a press release read.

The decreased prices follow Telkom's announcement of a "soft cap" earlier this month.  Customers reaching their internet cap will no longer be limited to local data, as they will now also be able to access international sites.

"Our focus remains on maintaining a quality experience whilst also exploring new and innovative ways to deliver even more value to our customers," said Mr Manelisa Mavuso, Managing Director of Telkom Consumer Services and Retail.

A 1Mbps uncapped account will now cost R199 (down from R219), a 2Mbps account will be priced at R249 (down from R369), a 4Mbps account will retail for R369 (down from R699) while the 10Mbps account will cost R699 (down from R1399).

Bundled packages have also seen a price reduction; with 1Mbps now R329 (down from R349), 2Mbps being R459 (down from R579), 4Mbps costing R699 (down from R1029) and 10Mbps bundles costing R999 (down from R1699.
