Have you ever needed to know the answer to a question when you're not close to the web to look it up? Need to resolve a bet in the pub or need to find a detail while in a meeting?
'Ask a Guru' is a new service recently established in South Africa which allows you to SMS any question to the number 38138 and get an answer sent back to you.
There are gurus who are based all over the world and they are available 24 hours a day to answer your questions. You can ask pretty much anything, such as who has the most Springbok rugby caps in history, what is the current Rand to Peso exchange rate, or who is the South African leader of the opposition?
We tested the service by sending a very easy question (Who is the president of SA? ) and received an answer within five minutes.
'Ask a Guru' costs R10 per query, but all the proceeds up to the end of the year will go to the Percy Bartley Children's Shelter which looks after homeless street children.
