Changing your icons
The system icons on your desktop (My Documents, Recycle Bin, etc.) are changed in a different way than your other icons. So let's do them first.
To change your system icons:
Right-click with your mouse on the desktop screen and select "Properties".
Go to the "Desktop" tab.
In the bottom left of the screen, click on the "Customise Desktop" button. A new screen pops up.
On the general tab, you now see a window with all your system icons. To change them, select the one you want to change and click on the "Change Icon" button.
A number of default icons are now available for selection. To select the icon you created yourself though, click on "Browse" and then browse to where you saved the icon. Select it and click on "Open". The icon now appears in the selection screen.
Make sure your icon is highlighted and then click on "OK".
If you want to change another system icon, select it
and repeat the process.
When you're done, click on "OK" and then click on "OK" in the "Display Properties" window too.
Your system icons have now been changed.
To change your other icons:
Select the icon you want to change on your desktop by single clicking with the left mouse button on it.
Right-click and select "Properties".
Click on the "Shortcut" tab.
Click on the "Change Icon" button.
Browse to your icon, select it, and click on "Open".
Click on "OK" and click on "OK" again in the properties window.
And voila, you're very own icons now display on your desktop. Have fun changing them all!
