Last week I showed you how to edit a video and add a music track to it. This week we look at how you can capture pretty much any video off the internet and save it on your PC — for free!

RealPlayer software has a built-in video capture tool that works in both Internet Explorer and Firefox (as of the date of this article, it does not yet work in Google Chrome).

First, download RealPlayer and then close your browser. Now install it — during the setup phase, you'll be prompted by a screen where you can select certain options. Look out for the "Download and recording" section and make sure the "Enable browser download button" option is selected.

Follow the rest of the setup process as normal (when prompted to register, just click on "Cancel" — you can use RealPlayer without having to register an account).

When setup is complete, open RealPlayer, click on "Tools" and then on "Preferences". Under the "Download and recording" section, you can specify where the videos must be saved to. Close RealPlayer (it does not have to be open for the capture tool to work) and restart your browser.

When a webpage contains a video, a "Download this video" button will now automatically appear for seven seconds at the top of the video for a short period of time when the page loads up. Simply click on it, and the video will begin to download to the location on your hard drive that you specified.

If the prompt disappeared before you can click on it, simply right-click with your mouse on the video and select "Download This Video To RealPlayer".

And that's it!
