Windows' right-click menu often comes in handy for certain shortcuts, but wouldn't it be nice to be able to customise this menu?

With 'Filemenu Tools' you can do exactly that.

It's a small utility that adds a number of extra commands to the right-click menu, while also giving you the ability to add more commands, specify which ones you don't want to see in the menu, and completely deleting others.

It will take you some time to figure out how to use the tool properly, but the built-in help tool is quite clear so if you have any questions, you can always refer back to that.

But to get you started, here's some introductory instructions:

  1. First, download and install the utility (go to http://lopesoft.com/en/ and then scroll down to the "FileMenu Tools" section where you will see a download link).
  2. Then open it.
  3. You'll immediately see a block with a list of commands with tick boxes next to them. If any particular box is ticked, that command will appear in your right-click menu in Windows Explorer.
  4. The commands are divided into three groups: 'Commands of FileMenu Tools', 'Send To… menu', and 'Commands of other applications'. Above the list of actions you'll see tabs — clicking on any of these tabs will list the commands beneath it.
  5. On the left-hand side you will see a couple of options under the heading "actions", including options to add, delete or move commands. Personally I wouldn't just delete a command; rather just untick the box next to it.
  6. The "Add command" option is quite nice though — with it you can create your own custom command or a link to a file that you often use. Just click on the "add command" link and then you'll see a box appear under "Properties" in the bottom left corner. Here you can fill in all the required information to make that command work. Play around with it — you can always delete the command again.
  7. To save your changes, you can either click on the green tick mark in the top left corner (below the "File" menu) or just close the program, which will then prompt you whether you want to save the changes or not.
