A reader recently asked me how you can set your mouse to open programs by only clicking once on an icon, instead of twice. In other words, to change the mouse to automatically double-click when you press the left button.
This can definitely come in quite handy when you're on your computer's desktop and want to open a program. It's quick and easy.
To change this is quite simple, but your mouse needs to have more than just the left and right buttons for it to work. Also, because of the different uses a single-click has, you might want to rethink remapping the left-button. You'll probably end up using a single-click way more than a double-click and the left button is just easier for that.
Furthermore, if you remap the left button to double-click, Windows might prompt you to remap the single click function to the right button, which will mean you'll have to remap another button to do the right-click function seeing as that's also used quite a bit, causing a bit of a domino effect doing its thing on your mouse.
So when you follow the remapping instructions below, I suggest you rather map another button to do the double-clicking work instead of the left or right buttons.
Right, assuming you have more than the standard two buttons, here's how to change that third button to double-click.
