Looking for a way in which to access your home PC from your laptop while on a business trip?

That's easy! It involves phoning the wife, asking her to fire up your home PC, and getting her to email any files you might need...

OK, just joking, there are actually two ways that I can think of that will help you...

If you have Windows XP Professional installed, you can simply make use of the 'Remote Desktop Connection' function found under START / Programs / Accessories / Communications. To learn how to use this function, read through the tutorial and FAQ on Microsoft's website.

If you don't have Windows XP Professional, then the other option is to download a utility that performs the same function. There are a number of utilities available, but a nice free one is 'LogMeIn'. Give it a try!

A word of warning though: any person using your desktop at the moment when you start accessing it, is going to get a double heart attack, because they'll suddenly lose control over the PC and the mouse will move all on its own, opening and closing programs as you do your thing. So maybe warn your family before they think there's a ghost in the machine...

Have fun!
